About Us
Ek Sankalp Jan Jagran Samiti, referred to as Ek Sankalp, was established in 2017 and is a nonprofit organization registered under the Madhya Pradesh Societies Registration Act of 1973 under number 44 with registration no. 01/01/01/33152/1.
83% of the farm households in India comprise small or marginal farmers with less than 2 hectares of land, with 70% having less than 1 hectare of land and this number is only increasing by the day.
We, at Ek Sankalp, strive for the empowerment of marginalized smallholder farmers through sustainable agricultural practices and technology. Our focus is on integrating the three dimensions of sustainable development - economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection.
Sustainable food and agriculture have a major role to play in reinvigorating the rural landscape. Our effort is to address food and agriculture, farmer livelihood and natural resources management simultaneously and not separately.
We aim to expand to more districts and eventually to more states while focusing on integrating the three dimensions of sustainable development-economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection.
The average landholding in India is 1.08 hectares; it would typically sustain eight persons. Smallholders now cultivate 42% of operated land and constitute 83% of total landholdings.
Our Vision
We imagine a world where all marginalized and smallholder farmers have the resources they need to grow abundant food, achieve financial stability and play a significant role in bringing about a climate and food-system transition toward sustainable practices.
